The whole idea of collecting specific information on your viewing habits appalls me. I don't like it when others try to do it to me and I won't try to do it to you.
I may collect information in aggregate. For example, I may collect information that tells me how many times a particular page has been looked at but I won't try and tie that information back to you even if I can.
If you send me email, I may respond back to you within the context of your email. I might even add your email address to my address book for personal use particularly if I think you are a nice person and have interesting things to say. I will not send you unsolicited advertisements or try to sell you anything. I will not give your email address to anyone without your explicit permission. I will not sell your email address to anyone for any reason!
